SeaWife is heading to the National Alliance for Musical Theatre, in October! Now in its 31st year, the National Alliance for Musical Theatre's FESTIVAL OF NEW MUSICALS attracts theatre producers from around the world for this industry-only event to discover eight new musicals presented in 45-minute concert presentations over two days. All production costs are underwritten by NAMT, at no cost to the writing teams. As a non-profit organization, NAMT funds the Festival entirely through donations, sponsorships and contributions.
SeaWife had its first production in 2015 with Naked Angels, and then in 2017 at the White Heron Theatre in Nantucket. We are excited to share our work alongside so many of Musical Theatre’s most talented and up-and-coming writers.
COWBOY BOB at New York Stage and Film - July 2018
Alex is very excited to be a part of the musical workshop of COWBOY BOB at New York Stage and Film this July! Created by Molly Beach Murphy, Jeanna Phillips & Annie Tippe with music & lyrics by Jeanna Phillips, book & additional lyrics by Molly Beach Murphy and additional music by Alex Thrailkill and featuring Alex Brightman, Ashley Pérez Flanagan, Eric Lockley, Claire Rothrock, Kate Shindle,Felix Solis, Barbara Walsh, Amelia Workman. It tells the story of Peggy, a good neighbor, a good daughter, and a great bank robber. Disguised as a man in a fake beard and a ten-gallon hat, “Cowboy Bob” evaded detection for more than a decade. In a score that's equal parts Riot Grrrl rage and Texas two-step, the small-town legend inspires an assortment of competing wannabe rebels to claim her story as their own. Directed by Annie Tippe! SPILL at Ensemble Studio Theatre
SPILL written and directed by Leigh Fondakowski
Alex is excited to announce that he is going to be involved with the upcoming NY premiere of SPILL written and directed by Leigh Fondakowski, founding member of Tectonic Theatre Company and original writer on the legendary The Laramie Project. SPILL tells the story of America's largest environmental disaster. On April 20, 2010, the massive DEEPWATER HORIZON oil rig, leased by BP, and owned and operated by Transocean, exploded and burned off the coast of Louisiana, killing 11 workers and triggering the largest oil spill in history. For 87 days, millions of gallons of environmentally damaging oil flowed into the Gulf of Mexico.
SPILL is based on over 200 hours of interviews collected in the aftermath of this spill. This theatrical event goes beyond the headlines to tell vivid personal stories from all sides of the country’s greatest environmental disaster.
